Land requirements

EnerWealth Solutions is more than happy to help assess your land. In order to initially qualify for solar, the land must meet the following requirements:

  • Land Size and Status

Project sites must have at least six cleared acres; typically between 6–30 acres, though larger parcels are possible.

  • Three-Phase Adjacency

Project sites must be adjacent to three‑phase power lines, identifiable by a T‑shaped pole with three parallel cables.

  • Substation Proximity

Project sites must be located within five miles of a local substation, which EnerWealth Solutions can help locate.

What is solar-land leasing?

  • The construction timeline depends on the size of the project and the amount of site preparation required. In many cases, several months—or even years—of development work are needed before construction can begin.

  • Yes. In some cases, EnerWealth can design a system that powers your home and/or commercial operations.

  • You’ll need to notify your lessee in advance so they can prepare for the conclusion of their activities. Fortunately, they will have several months’ notice to wind down operations.

  • Renting typically refers to short-term arrangements, such as renting a house for a few months. A solar land lease is a long-term agreement, usually lasting 25 years or more.

  • Solar panels generally last up to 35 years, while most contracts run 20–25 years. When the lease ends, the solar farm may be dismantled at the operator’s expense, and the land restored to its original condition. Alternatively, you may choose to extend the lease if there is ongoing demand for power. In that case, equipment may be upgraded, though the overall structure of the solar farm will remain largely the same, subject to advances in solar technology.
